Saturday April 18, 2026 | 8pm–3am | Ancient World, 116A Hindley St, Adelaide | Free before 9pm, tiered pricing after | 18+
Adelaide, SA — Dubvert brings Brighton-based selector Dub Athlete to Ancient World on Saturday, April 18 for a night of subterranean bass, broken beats, and dubwise pressure through a heavyweight sound system. Local support from Skorpion King b2b Mr John, Medea, and NINJA. Doors at 8pm, music until 3am. Entry is free before 9pm, with tiered pricing after that — the earlier you arrive, the less you pay.
Dub Athlete doesn’t sit in one lane. Her sets move through dubstep, techno, broken beats, leftfield bass, and electro, tied together by low-end weight and the kind of rhythmic intention that makes a small dark room feel massive. She describes the dancefloor as a crossroad — a space flooded with low-end frequencies to shift states of body, mind, and being. That’s not just talk. The sets are built for physical response: bass you feel in your chest, rhythms that pull you into movement.
Beyond the decks, she brings serious community credentials. Between 2019 and 2025 she organised and curated the Fortune Sessions in Brighton — a free party series platforming underground bass music and local DJs. In 2025 she was a key organiser of bass music events in London raising funds for Médecins Sans Frontières. She’s an outspoken advocate for gender equality in bass music, an ally to the queer community, and someone who sees raving as part of a healthy lifestyle tied to wider underground culture and political movements. The kind of artist who walks it as much as she talks it.
Local support is well matched. Skorpion King b2b Mr John bring weight and experience, Medea adds another dimension, and NINJA rounds out a lineup that knows what a room like Ancient World demands.
Ancient World is built for this. Low ceilings, concrete, and a sound system that rewards anyone who puts bass first. Dubvert’s events come with a strict no phones, no filming policy on the dancefloor — put it away and be present. They also run a zero-tolerance policy on antisocial behaviour: no racism, no sexism, no homophobia, no transphobia, no predatory or intimidating behaviour. If you see it, report it to staff or security.
The tiered door pricing is a nice touch — it rewards people who come early and commit to the full night rather than rocking up at midnight. Free before 9pm, $25 before 10, $30 before 11, $35 after midnight. Earlybird presales at $20 are also available via Humanitix. Door sales are subject to capacity.
