Adelaide, SA — Three milestones, one night. DJ JoSH turns 60. The Golden Years turns 10. The Arkaba Hotel turns 60. And it’s all happening under one roof at Top of the Ark on Saturday, July 4, 2026 — the biggest edition yet of Adelaide’s longest-running nostalgia dance event, with live performances from Slinkee Minx and Karina Chavez, the return of the Hyperdance dancers, and the full resident DJ and MC lineup. Since launching in 2017, The Golden Years has become a rite of passage for anyone who ever lost themselves on an Adelaide dancefloor during the golden era of club culture. Four decades of music — house, Euro, NRG, trance, and everything in between — delivered with the kind of unashamed enthusiasm that only works when the crowd lived through it the first time around. JoSH built this event for her people, and a decade in, it’s still packing the room.
Slinkee Minx return for their second Golden Years appearance. The Australian vocal dance act dominated early-2000s dance charts with their cover of “Summer Rain” and originals like “Way of Life” and “Someday.” Their debut album Electric Dreams went Gold. For a night built on 80s and 90s nostalgia, having Slinkee Minx perform live is a genuine headline moment.
Karina Chavez is back by demand. Her ARIA-nominated “Show Me Love” and her recent collaboration with Sgt Slick and Michael Gray on “I Thank You” show a career that spans decades and genres. Her powerhouse vocals and live energy have made her a Golden Years favourite — this is her return to the Arkaba stage.
The resident lineup holds it all together: DJ Adrian Zac — the Fresh FM icon behind some of Adelaide’s most unforgettable mix CDs — and DJ Ben, one of the city’s club scene darlings with an ear for timeless anthems. MC Maestro D hosts the night with style and nostalgia — your favourite mic master from the golden rave era. And Hyperdance — Adelaide’s longest-running adult commercial dance studio — bring back the original Golden Years dancefloor divas with fierce choreography and podium energy.
The Arkaba Hotel is the right home for this. Top of the Ark has been one of Adelaide’s iconic live music venues for decades, and the fact that both JoSH and the venue share a 60th birthday gives the night a symmetry that can’t be manufactured. This isn’t a club night in the underground sense — it’s a celebration, a reunion, and a birthday party all rolled into one. Dress up, show up, and be prepared to hear every track that ever made you lose your mind on a dancefloor between 1985 and 2005.
