Adelaide, SA — [For immediate release] — Wickid Thursdayz is back. Adelaide’s monthly open decks night returns to Ancient World on Thursday, April 2, 2026 — a DJs’ playground for anyone who wants to get behind the decks, no booking required. Run by Wickid Lickwid and creator Amorositie, the night is open format, open genre, and open to anyone who turns up ready to play.
The format is simple. Sign up on the night or DM the crew in advance. Names go into the draw and the lineup gets randomised — first round pulled at 6:30pm, second round at 9:30pm. No hierarchy, no politics, no guaranteed slots. You could be warming up the room or closing it out. That’s the whole point.
Open decks nights like this matter more than they get credit for. They’re where new DJs get their first taste of playing on a proper system in a real room. They’re where experienced selectors try out new material or genres they wouldn’t risk at a headline gig. And they’re where people who might never cross paths at genre-specific events end up on the same lineup — liquid DnB into techno into house into whatever someone brings on their USB.
Wickid Lickwid started in 2024 as a space for liquid drum and bass and bass music in Adelaide, but the open decks night has deliberately cast a wider net. Any genre welcome. The only requirement is that you want to play and you’re prepared to take your chances with the draw.
Amorositie — the DJ, Fresh 92.7 host (The Ones and Twos), and the person behind Wickid Lickwid — has been building this into a regular fixture on the Adelaide underground calendar. It’s inclusive by design, low-cost by choice, and anchored at Ancient World, which has become one of Hindley Street’s most reliable rooms for underground electronic music.
Entry is free before 9pm, then $10 on the door after that. No presales, no fuss.
