Adelaide, SA — Dance Floor Heretics and Continuous Flow bring back Mellow Monday for a third instalment — six hours of magically mellow music in the private Garden Room at Marion Hotel on the Kings Birthday public holiday, Monday June 8. Laranja Grande and DJ Moshman on the decks from 1pm to 7pm.
If you’ve been to the first two, you already know the formula. If you haven’t: Mellow Monday is the antidote to everything else happening in Adelaide’s electronic music scene. No bass drops, no peak-time pressure, no 2am finishes. Just two selectors, six hours, a private room in a suburban pub, and music that’s warm, deep, and deliberately unhurried. It’s a public holiday Monday afternoon session designed for exactly what it sounds like — easing into the last day of a long weekend with a drink in hand and nowhere to be tomorrow.
Laranja Grande and Moshman are the right pair for this. The brief isn’t to get a room jumping — it’s to hold a mood across a long afternoon, keeping the energy in that sweet spot between background warmth and head-nodding groove. Six hours split between two selectors means three hours each, which is enough time to really settle into a sound and let it breathe.
The Garden Room at Marion Hotel has become Mellow Monday’s home. It’s a private space — separate from the main pub — which gives the afternoon its own contained atmosphere. You’re not competing with pokies and TAB screens. You’re in your own world, and the music fills it completely. Marion Road in Mitchell Park isn’t the inner city, and that’s part of the charm. You don’t have to fight for parking, you don’t have to navigate Hindley Street, and the pub does proper food and drinks if you want to settle in for the duration.
The Continuous Flow co-billing is a nice touch for the heads who know the history — one of Adelaide’s original electronic music crews from the early 90s, still active and still putting on events that prioritise music and atmosphere over spectacle.
