The Front Room brings Oliver Huntemann to TIA LIVE for a full Funktion-One techno takeover

Saturday September 5, 2026 | 9pm–4am | TIA LIVE, 128 Hindley St, Adelaide | Tickets via Humanitix | Funktion-One sound install

Adelaide, SA — The Front Room brings Hamburg techno heavyweight Oliver Huntemann to TIA LIVE for an exclusive two-hour set on Saturday, September 5. Full production: beefed-up visuals, lighting, and a Funktion-One sound system install turning TIA LIVE into an underground techno haven. Support from Solace + Rhyziel, Sam B & Sky, and JVR. 9pm to 4am. Tickets on sale now via Humanitix.

Oliver Huntemann has been shaping techno for over two decades. His roots trace through electro and rave into the kind of dark, hypnotic, concrete-hard techno that fills main rooms across Europe. He’s remixed Chemical Brothers, Depeche Mode, and Underworld. He’s released on Drumcode, Stil Vor Talent, Watergate, Systematic, and Terminal M. His own label Senso Sounds has opened his catalogue to a new generation. Since 2016 he’s held a residency at Watergate in Berlin, and his touring schedule runs from Warung in Brazil and Rex Club in Paris to BPM Festival in Mexico. In Australia, he’s played Strawberry Fields, Let Them Eat Cake, and most recently Pitch Music & Arts. His 2017 track “Rotlicht” alone has pulled over 8.6 million plays on YouTube — a dancefloor weapon that crossed from underground sets into something much bigger.

For The Front Room, this is a statement booking. They’ve been one of the three Adelaide crews behind the Tales of Techno CJ Bolland + Thomas Schumacher event back in March and co-presented the A Day At The Beach Felix Da Housecat show with AirDNB, but bringing Huntemann to TIA LIVE as a solo Front Room production puts them centre stage as a techno promoter in their own right. The venue choice matters too — TIA LIVE at 128 Hindley Street is the same room that hosted Tales of Techno, and installing a full Funktion-One system for the night signals they’re treating this as a production event, not just a DJ booking.

The support lineup draws from Adelaide’s deeper techno pool. Solace + Rhyziel and Sam B & Sky appear as pairings — both combinations that suggest extended collaborative sets rather than quick changeovers. JVR rounds out the bill. Sam B has been a regular across the Doof Techno rotation through 2026, and Solace has appeared on everything from Tales of Techno to the QZB + Charli Brix Easter event — versatile selectors who can match the weight Huntemann brings.

The production brief — visuals, lighting, Funktion-One — is worth paying attention to. Most Adelaide club nights run on whatever system the venue has in. Bringing in a dedicated Funktion-One install for a single night is a significant investment, and it changes the experience fundamentally. Oliver Huntemann’s sound — dark, hypnotic, physically heavy — is built for a system like that. When the bass is that clean and that powerful, you hear textures in the production that smaller systems can’t reproduce.

Seven hours from 9pm to 4am. A two-hour headline set from one of Europe’s most respected techno artists. Full production. The same Hindley Street room as Tales of Techno but with a different kind of weight — Huntemann’s sound is more modern, more minimal, and more relentlessly physical than the 90s rave nostalgia of CJ Bolland and Schumacher. This is the 2026 end of the techno spectrum, and The Front Room are delivering it properly.
