On this long weekend, hard dance enthusiasts flocked to the refurbished Le Rox to dance the night away. DJ’s for the night included ATB, Quantum vs Submission, Mr S, H-Bomb, with special guests Lab4 (UK) and Proteus (Finland). As a departure from previous Le Rox events, the hardcore room was transformed into a breaks and trance room, which made a welcome change.

The night got underway with the sounds of Sarez warming up the crowd in the main room, with Guy followed by Brett Witter in the back room. Justice and ATB kept the main stage party flowing, making way for Quantum and Submission to continue the night with some excellent track selection, including ‘Lost in Love’, a real crowd pleaser.

The crowd erupted as DJ Proteus stepped onto the stage, an imposing figure with 2 foot long dreads and gothic accoutrement. After a few mishaps early on (due to Proteus’ wild onstage antics no doubt) the crowd settled in to hear a blinding barrage of freeform fury. I had heard and been impressed by a number of Proteus’ mixes in the past, but I was unprepared for the ferocity with which it was delivered.

After working the crowd into a frenzy with some excellent track selection and flawless delivery, Proteus handed the stage over to the Lab 4. Expectations were high, and Lab 4 did not disappoint, serving up a brilliant set as only they know how. Dropping plenty of Lab 4 classics, and a personal favourite – the remix of ‘Perfect Drug’ by Nine Inch Nails - and finishing with a brilliant encore, they handed over to Adelaide’s own Mr S to continue the craziness.

My hat goes off the organisers and stage crew, who went out of their way to utilise the Le Rox venue to the full. Apart from the recent redecorations, the light crew put in some great work, with 6 televisions and projectors placed around the stage with some fantastic visual effects playing, and a number of freestanding lights throughout the room. With a consistent crowd of happy punters, an excellent venue and setup and wicked music all night long, I’d have to say this was a great place to finish up the long weekend. There are 0 user comments, click here to view or post your own.
